Psychophilia (or more correctly “psychrophilia”) refers to a sexual fetish in which the individual is sexually aroused by being cold or by seeing others become cold. This may involve enjoying cold showers, swimming in cold water, being outside in cold weather without appropriate clothing, or even watching others do these things.
As with many fetishes, the reasons why some people develop a particular preference or attraction are varied and can be complex. They may stem from an early sexual experience that involved cold, a deeper psychological connection to the sensation of cold, or simply a simple physical satisfaction from that specific sensation.
